“With winter just around the corner we’ve found a great place to warm your cockles and leave you with a belly full of comfort food. SMASH Sausage Kitchen in Newtown is serving up a range of tasty meals that aren’t your ordinary bangers and mash”

We’re out for a meal with an elderly Englishman who’s a bit like Arthur Daley from Minder – minus the cigar. Our Arthur reckons he’s been on the straight and narrow for years, but describes his former career as ”a bit of this and a bit of that”. And he has a distinct fondness for the days before……

We have been to Smash Sausage Kitchen twice …. the food is great for a cold winter night. I had the mash potatoe (and other food) the first time and the last time I had the mash potatoe with Parmesan mmmmaaaannnnn it was the best mash I have ever had (and I have had a lot of mash).

Fantastic sausages. Friendly service. Mix and match snags, mash and gravy to create the best of comfort food executed with contemporary gourmet flavour and flourish. To start we shared the smokey texan sausage with mussels served with generous lashings of tomato sauce.

Fantastic sausages and mash and as another friend said Really good service. Would def go back.

Excellent food at a great price too. Great combination of sausages and mash (with Gravy!) mixed just the way you would like. First class service in a really funky restaurant. Ticks all the boxes for good food and a great atmosphere. Highly recommended.

It was bound to happen eventually. For months I’ve been walking past this closed Vietnamese restaurant wondering when the “for lease” sign would be taken down. As of yesterday it has. In its place is Smash Sausage Kitchen. While searching for some Vietnamese pho to warm us up last night, my friend and I stumbled upon this newly opened restaurant and decided to pay it an inaugural visit. Decorated with a shock of lights, cushions and high wooden chairs, we were instantly impressed. The menu sports a variety of dishes, but there was only one choice for the both of us – the “smash”. If you’re a fan of good ol’ bangers and mash, then you must try this. Similar to Italian Bowl, the basis is you “create your own” bangers and mash meal. With eight different types of sausages, six flavours of mash and three gravies – variety is the spice of life.

BANGERS AND PANACHE - SYDNEY MORNING HERALD

"Smash does good, honest food with finesse. It's unpretentious, it's fresh and it's full of flavour. The servings are hearty and the sausages are top-drawer (although I usually prefer mine a bit more singed and desperate-looking)."
