About Us

SMASH Sausage Kitchen has recently opened in Newtown and has launched a brand new concept in Australia – a restaurant that specialises in gourmet ‘Sausage and Mash’. Sausage and mash is delicious food that has an element of tradition, but offers something that is unique and surprising.

Owner and Manager Nathan Malcolm has always loved delicious, home style comfort food and travelled the world to experience new food in different cultures and find a concept he could bring back to Australia. While travelling through America and the United Kingdom what he loved was the simple heart-warming food that makes you feel good.

“What we are offering is specialised, traditional comfort food with a modern edge. Customers can enjoy a satisfying meal in a friendly comfortable environment where they can feel at home”.

The menu offers something for everyone, including some great vegetarian and gluten free options. You can ‘Smash It Up’ by creating your own combination of sausage, mash and gravy. SMASH Sausage Kitchen offers nine different types of sausages and five different types of mash with four gravies to choose from.

At Smash Sausage Kitchen, we celebrate the comfort and cuisine of sausages and make them the hero of the menu.

In the event you feel like something other than the hero, Sausage and Mash, the menu also offers other comfort food options, starters, salads and desserts.

The quirky décor of Smash Sausage Kitchen is designed to create a cosy feel but with an element of freshness. A huge mural covers one wall and is reminiscent of the 1950’s pop art movement, harking to a time where life was simpler.

BANGERS AND PANACHE - SYDNEY MORNING HERALD

"Smash does good, honest food with finesse. It's unpretentious, it's fresh and it's full of flavour. The servings are hearty and the sausages are top-drawer (although I usually prefer mine a bit more singed and desperate-looking)."
